Former Boston College baseball captain Pete Frates is battling ALS (aka Lou Gehrig's disease) and inspired the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to help raise awareness and funds to fight the disease. According to Time, the challenges have raised $15.6 million for the ALS Association so far.
