00:01 Mick: What advice would I give to people? 00:05 We have the ability to truly change the world. 00:07 There's no blueprint on how to do this. 00:10 There's no pathway to follow. 00:14 All you need to do is just say, 00:16 I’m committing to changing that. And then, you 00:19 figure out how the heck you're gonna 00:20 pull it off. 00:25 This one night, I happened to show up at a gallery event where I was 00:28 exposed to an artist named TEMPT ONE. 00:31 Angst: Mick had a fantastic time. He really 00:35 loved the community. He just was really 00:37 intrigued with TEMPT. 00:53 (Upbeat music) 00:56 Mick: This incredible artist had Lou Gehrig's 01:00 Disease, he had ALS. And had been lying 01:03 motionless in a bed for seven years. He 01:06 wasn't able to express himself and 01:07 communicate and draw. and for me that was 01:10 that aha moment. We were gonna figure out 01:15 a way to help TEMPT ONE draw again. I 01:17 started to just talk to people and 01:19 networked with people. I brought in people 01:22 from literally six different continents 01:24 and they descended upon our house. 01:27 Angst: The whole experience was marvelous. Being in 01:29 the room, seeing what goes on with prototyping. 01:33 Ron: Yeah this is heavy. 01:35 Angst: With programmers and hackers. 01:36 Total artists in a totally different way, 01:38 but artists nonetheless. 01:40 Mick: And eventually, after two and a half weeks, we finally 01:43 came up with the Eye Writer. 01:45 (Piano Music) 01:47 With his friends and family, and everybody 01:49 gathered downstairs. 01:50 Mick’s Son: Is he drawing his name? 01:53 Mick: He's drawing with his eyes. 01:54 (Crowd applauding) 01:59 Mick: TEMPT drew again. It was just this 02:02 incredible experience. 02:04 Shortly after I received an email from 02:08 TEMPT that said, “That was the first time 02:11 I'd drawn anything for seven years. I 02:13 feel like I've been held underwater and 02:15 someone finally reached out and pulled 02:17 my head up.” And that was the launch of 02:19 Not Impossible. 02:21 One of our core tenants is technology 02:24 for the sake of humanity. If we can be 02:28 examples in the things that we're doing 02:30 and the things that we're changing, what 02:32 if other people can see that and say, 02:34 wait a second. I can change my world. And 02:36 that's where it transitions from just 02:38 being a company of employees to a 02:42 movement of people that are doing 02:44 something way bigger than themselves. If 02:47 not now, when? 02:48 And if not you, then who? I'm Mick 02:52 Ebeling. Founder of Not Impossible Labs.
